At Powerhouse Personal Training we take a unique approach to the Pilates method. We are committed to giving our clients the full experience of the strength, power, challenges and excitement of Classical Pilates.
This is backed by a comprehensive injury rehab and pre-Pilates program. The obstacles in each person’s path to performing the Classical Pilates repertoire are addressed with individually based corrective stretches and exercises.
Many clients who present at our studio with serious pain and injury go on to achieve the intermediate and advanced levels of Classical Pilates, acquiring levels of strength and control they did not think possible.
Gina Richter – Studio Director
Powerhouse Personal Training is run by Gina Richter, certified Pilates instructor with the Australian Pilates Method Association (APMA) in Australia and ‘Romana’s Pilates’ in the USA.
Gina’s interest in bodywork started when she studied dance as a child. At 18 she began practising Iyengar yoga and in 1986 became one of the first Iyengar yoga teachers to be certified by BKS Iyengar in Australia.
Gina taught Iyengar yoga for 10 years at the Balmain Yoga Studio, one of the first yoga studios in Sydney, before discovering the Pilates Method of Body Conditioning.
Gina studied Classical Pilates in Sydney with former New York City Ballet dancer, Cynthia Lochard. She also studied in New York with Romana Kryzanowska. Now in her 80s, Romana is one of Joseph Pilates original protégés.
Gina attained her US certification in 1998.
Gina has also studied injury rehabilitation and core conditioning using the Swiss Ball with Paul Chek, American exercise therapist.
She is a Level 1 Chek Practitioner.
