ACNT celebrates 30 years in the industry in 2012. It is an achievement that we are extremely proud of – so we continue to expand and improve on our courses and facilities. ACNT is not only one of the largest colleges of natural medicine in the world. It is one of the most respected private educational providers, recognised by many worldwide organisations, universities and industry associations.
The ACNT Journey Begins
ACNT’s history begins in the 1970s with Freida Bielik, Principal and co-founder of ACNT. Freida spends years of sleepless nights at the local hospital with her son, Danny, who battles severe asthma. She and her husband Peter are at a loss as to how to treat their son’s health. But by a stroke of good luck, they discover osteopathy, and the results are astounding.
ACNT Flourishes from Inspiration
Freida is so inspired by this form of medicine that she goes on to study osteopathy, chiropractic and naturopathy. Once qualified, she opens a small practice in Bondi. Then in 1982, she and Peter start ACNT (known then as the Eastern Suburbs College of Natural Therapies). The College consists of one classroom and four treatment rooms. Quickly outgrowing the premises, the College moves to Double Bay, where they run a range of successful massage workshops.
With an ever increasing demand for natural therapy courses, the College shifts all over Sydney, from Ultimo to Broadway to Glebe and finally, Surry Hills.
